It is amazing to see you're able to maintain. How do you do it? Silly question I am just wondering what habits you took away from NS permantently. Do you have to watch your calories still or do you have a little more freedom now - just watch your portions, fat, eat GI carbs, etc? I think we all get nervous about maintaining as it seems to be the most elusive to everyone. I know exercise being part of your daily life is a HUGE bit but I am wondering about dietary habits. Got any tips for maintenance? I am scared, I am not even halfway yet but still getting there. Just scared of gaining it back even though I exercise an hour a day. Did you cut back night-time eating too?

Oh and by the way, you posted these new photos on my 31st birthday, the 9th of April! Neat! I am very inspired. Maybe I can actually go all the way and do this for good. You've got me thinking for sure! I love the recipes too by the way.

Thank you!

Hi michelle,

As far as maintenance, I stick to the 1200 cal meal plan and recipes I have listed here. Then I can enjoy a few off-plan meals each week and indulge in those. If my weight creeps up then I get rid of the off plan meals for a bit and stick to the 1200 cals until I get it back off...

Cutting out night-time eating (snacking) is a big thing. No way can I go back to my old eating habits and expect not to gain weight back. Maintenance can be done, but you have to be dedicated. It's not easy! You can do it if you have your mind set to it.

You are quite an inspiration... not only doing what you did (and keep doing it) but by blogging about it as well.
Thanks for doing this for those of us who will follow your lead!

Amy,
You are truly an inspiration to all! Congrats on your success and maintaining your goal! I am twice your age (almost), so I think it will take a bit longer to meet my goal, considering the vast difference in age-LOL! My metabolism needs a wake-up call! You pics are beautiful and you have a beautiful family.Thank you for your inspiring story for us all. Keeps me motivated. I'd like to be able to get back into my pre-pregnancy jean size, too!! Take care............

Hi Amy,
I just wanted to say THANK YOU for your blog spot, all the great photos, videos, menus and INSPIRATION! I've been on NS for a little over six weeks now, and have lost 17 pounds. You are a HUGE inspiration for me. I tend to visit your pages about once a week just to keep me motivated! I have a question for you - actually, two. First, how much exercise (how hard?) were you doing during those months of loss? And second, how did you end up doing the photo shoot in New York? I haven't read every single entry on here yet - because I work about 18 hours a day - but I was just curious...did they approach YOU, or did you approach them? Thanks again for so much inspiration!

Hi Barb, thanks for the nice comments. Congrats on your amazing loss already as well. :) I worked out pretty hard during my weight loss time, and still continue to do so, but it just helps so much with how fast you can lose the weight and how much you can eat that I will keep it up forever. I workout 6 days per week, leaving one day of rest as part of my plan to give the muscles time to repair. I try to get in about an hour per day of cardio (tae-bo, Turbo Jam, running, etc). I like to add in weights a few times per week as well. Crunches and leg lifts are also a good part of a routine for toning up those trouble spots.

As for the photo shoot, NS contacted me, as well as other men and women, to take some after shots for advertising last November. They took our names I believe from one of their $10,000 contest entries. It was a great time, which I was then able to repeat when NS pitched a story about me and my friends to First magazine and they flew us out to do a story on us and another photo shoot in July of this year. It was an even better time and I'm excited to see the magazine come out in a few weeks. (Look for the Oct 30th edition of First). There's supposed to be a 6 page spread on us all and we're excited. :) Have a great day!

Hi Amy, thanks for the response! :) I really appreciate you telling me about your workouts. :) I want to have the most success possible. I'm up to over 18 pounds gone now, and I'm so excited by this program. Thanks also for telling me about the photo shoot(s)! It looked like so much fun, and how exciting for you. I will definitely be picking up a copy of that magazine! Keep up the great blog spot - it really inspires so many of us! You have a beautiful family, too. I enjoyed all the pictures/videos! Your cookbook is amazing too. I know there's lots of us on NS that are enjoying THAT too! Take care, and God bless you!

Wow, you are exactly my inspiration! I want to get down to 120lbs myself, but I'm a little worried about something. I was wondering if you did anything to help make sure that your...chest stayed firm? Like did you do pectoral exercises or a lot of arm lifting? I'm worried about it because my own chest is rather large (kind of like how yours used to be in the first pic) and I've been doing all this research online but it all pretty much concludes that losing weight 'causes "them" to deflate and sag. Yet, when I looked at your photos, I saw that there was actually a vast improvement. So what's your secret?!

Also, what kind of exercise plan did you do for yourself to get into such great shape?

Thanks a lot and way to go!

I had a question did you have to get a tummy tuck or anything and did you have stretch marks at all at 180?
