Hi Amy,
Your blog is absolutely amazing! I have been on Nutrisystem Nourish for 1 1/2 months now and I am getting sooooo sick of the food. I want to make the transition from their food to "real" food as you have done. I think nourish is a little bit different, so I was wondering if you could give me any more info on the program you follow. I don't remember reading in my nourish booklets anything about calories for carbs, protein, etc, and I read that thing cover to cover! My email is jen0088@gmail.com and I would be grateful for any program info you could provide! You are truly an inspiration and you look FABULOUS!!!!

Hey Amy! I have a few questions for you. I'm getting my grocery list together, because I have one more full day of NS left before I have to fend for myself. I'm going to use a majority of your recipes! But was wondering if you could give me some samples of "quick" b-fast and lunches you may grab on the run or what do you normally eat if you dine out? Until I get a complete handle on this, I was wondering if you could offer a few suggestion?

Also, what do you do when you really crave something. I go overboard when it's that time of month. I'm a bottomless pit! I was just wondering how you handled those situations. I know I could learn a thing or two from you! If you wouldn't mind e-mailing me, that would be great. And no rush, I know you are busy! Thanks!

Hi Amy,
I have got to say I am so impressed! I am the cooker in the family & absolutely love that you have generously posted so many quick & easy recipes. My family looks foward to dinnertime again - since I started NS they basically had to find their own food & that made me feel horrible. Now I just triple whatever meal I'm going to make from your suggestions & they all love it! We went on a mini-vacation this weekend and what made me so happy was that the family agreed they couldn't wait to get home so I can cook "the good food" for them :) I couldn't be happier and I have to thank you for this! Thanks for being such an inspiration!!!

I never thought there would be so many people who would find these simple meals so helpful. I am so glad that both you and your family members enjoy them. Hope you're doing well.

Hi Amy.......

I've been doing NS Nourish for about 8 months, and am considering a transition (with the help of your fab recipes) to cooking on my own. I am curious, since you have done both yourself, how did the cost per month compare once you started cooking on your own?

Hi Kathy,

It's definitely cheaper to do it with my own food, but I couldn't really tell you by how much. I have a whole family to feed, so it's hard to tell what the difference was from when I was using the NS food (I still had to cook full meals for them).

Hi Amy! Your story is an inspiration, and your recipes are great! I am on Nutrisystem Nourish and also can't find info on calories for proteins, carbs, etc.....would you mind emailing me any program info you have? The little yellow book just doesn't cut it! My email is ec_egc@yahoo.com. I really really appreciate any help you can give me! Hopefully, with a little work I can be just as successful as you!!!
Thanks,

Hi Amy,I decided to go on an alternating plan which means I do NS food one day and the next my own menu and so on. Today, was my first day but I'm a little confused with the amount of CARBS that I can have in a day.Should it not go over a certain number? It looks like on the NS plan the carbs vary. I would appreciate your help on this. Thanks,Linda K.

Blogger Amy said...

Hi Linda,

I just limit my carbs to a certain number of "bread" carbs per meal. I try to keep my bread under 130 cal for breakfast, between 75 and 100 for lunch, and under 120 cal at dinner... That's listed after each meal name (Breakfast, lunch, dinner).

So many things have carbs (like fruit for instance) that I don't track grams of carbs per day. I just use this "calorie" system. Let me know if you have any other questions. :)

Hi Amy ! My name is Pam and I'm a stay at home mom too ! I was going to join NS but realized I can't afford it, but I joined the support board to get some help and came across your posts. You look so awesome and are so inspiring to me ! Right now I weigh 180 lbs and I'm 5 ft 7, I need to get down to about 135. Do you think this is possible to do by following NS on my own by the end of August? Thank you so much for this blog, I am going to do this on my own like you and I need the help ! Does your grocery bill cost alot more than if you ate like your family did? That is one think I'm worried about. Can you please email me at pamhenning@msn.com? I could use all the help I can get. Thank you so much, you are a godsend !!!

Hi Amy!
I'm ending my 2nd wk on NS and some of the food is so nasty I can't stand it. So I ordered the NS book from Amazon. Along with your recipes I may just be ok.

For the person that wanted to know about the cost of NS vers own food. Your own food is cheaper. Its just me and hubby and I do not spend over 200.00 a month for either of us.

However, my husband wants me to stick with the meals so I changed some of the food items for next month.

I'm also not understanding how you determine carbs, protein etc.

Email me at tattnkate@yahoo.com

Thanks!

Amy,
I just found your recipe page with all the pictures, awsume! I wanted to print it all but instead saved it to my computer and it is 83 pages long and 3 more pages for the food list, so a total of 86 pages, WOW!

You should write a book!

Thank you so much!!

Glad you liked it Deb. :) For the other Deb, I will try to e-mail later, though I do list after each meal name (breakfast, lunch, etc) what cal range I try to stay within and the number of bread cals I limit myself to. Protein is explained at the end of teh post and if you follow my recipes you will have no trouble getting in enough protein. Hope that helps. I try not to make it more complicated than it is. :)

Hi Amy,
You are an inspiration, my sister and I were going to begin Nutrisystem, but finding it very expensive. As well, the food hasnt' changed much in many years. Any info you can email me so we can get started on using our own food would be appreciated.

Hi Amy,
You've made my day! I did really well on Nutrisystem food last year, but then quit smoking and gained it all back. I tried to get back on the food this month, but it seems so disgusting, I just can't eat it.
I've thought about trying with my own food, but was at a loss on how to do it, especially getting all the protein in.
Then I tripped upon your site!
I'm so excited!
With your direction, I CAN DO THIS!
I owe you lunch or something ... and since I'm just south of Denver I might actually have to pay up! :)
Thanks! Janet
p.s. You look terrific!

LOL Janet,

Hope you enjoy the recipes. :) I'm hoping to plan an NS get-together lunch some time this summer for those of us in the Colo Springs/Denver area. I'll post about it on the board when I decide on a time and such, so hopefully you visit the NSBB? :) Good luck.

Amy, a Springs/Denver lunch would be great fun! I'll try to keep an eye out on the NSBB for your 'announcement'. If, by chance, you're keeping a list of us Coloradoans, my email is janet@4dv.net.

Look forward to hearing from you. :)

Hi Amy I ordered NS I just can't do there food. I found your recipes and they are great. I was wondering if and when you come up with new things to fix where you post them? I am not good at calculating the food currectly and am interested in the new things you come up with. Gwen

Hi Gwen,

Glad you like the recipes. When I add new ones I just add them to my blog recipes post and write *update* at the end of each meal section for it. Hope that helps. I also do the nightly food post on the NS board (NS on our own... daily food post w/pics) and sometimes I post new stuff on there but if it isn't my favorite I don't add it to my blog. Hope that helps.

I am interested in your recipes and would love to help you create a book. It would not cost anything to create with lulu.com.

You can then sell it online or have people pay you. Either way you set the amount of profit desired. Certainly can help pay for food.

Please email me your recipes at eldercareconcierge@comcast.net. I have been on NS for almost 3 months and originally lose 5 pounds. Unfortunately a few weeks ago I went crazy going out with family. Gained back 2 1/2 pounds. My weight started 161 and now it is about 158/159. My goal is 145 pounds. I definately have started exercising and drinking more each day. I am also 58 years old and retain water.

I see some change but when I went off the wagon, it is depressing. Back on track but if I spend money it would be nice to see it.

Congrats on getting back on track! That's great. As for the cookbook, my friend Jan already put one together this past summer with my recipes up to that point. I have it available on my blog for free downloading. Thanks! :)

Hello Amy,
I am reading your blog many years later and love the recipes!! Thank you so much for taking the time to post. The shopping list is hard to follow with some current items but I've managed to modify enough to co tinue. You have mentioned that you made a cookbook. Is it still available? The NSBB is no longer around so I cannot get more ideas from there. Hope you are well and still check your blog to respond! I will give a private email address if I do hear from you. Cheers!!
