I think you are so inspiring. Congratulations!! I would like to know how tall you are and you said that the first week you only lost 2 lbs. Did it pick up after that or was it a stead pace of about 2 lbs.
My husband and I started our diet yesterday but we feel like we are eating more food than we were when we weren't on NS. Did you feel like that?
Thanks so much for your post. I am 5'4". As for my loss the 1st week, I'm not sure where it says 2 lbs but I lost more than that the 1st week. If you are talking about the newsletter where it says "in my 1st week when I had only lost 2 lbs", it came out kind of wrong. I did lose more than that. Not sure exactly of the amount, but I know I lost 11 lbs in the 1st 2 weeks and 16 lbs total the 1st month. It leveled off after that to 2 lbs/week.
As for the amount of food you're eating, it can seem like a lot. When the food you eat is healthy food, you can eat a TON more! Make sure you get it all in. It really is crucial! I wish the best to both of you. I won't say "good luck" beacuse you won't need luck! :)
Thanks! For exercise I do about 60 min of cardio per day (treadmill, running, or Tae-Bo) and then about 30 min of weights every day as well. I also throw in some crunches, push-ups, leg lifts etc to work my abs and thighs... I do a post every night on the NS support board titled Bodies In Motion, where I detail my workout for the day and others post their exercise for the day as well. It's great for accountability. I also take 1 day off a week for rest of course. Thanks for posting!
Amy you are a great motivator. Tonight 9/12- you motivated me (winningsystem)to do 100 jumping jacks and then you did it too, even though you had had a hard day. I looked through the post and there were LOTS of people that were motivated by you too. Thanks for all the information on your site and for continuing to post of the BB. Glad to know you aren't perfect with your eatting and still able to maintain your weight loss. It gives me hope for when I reach goal. Thanks again. Terry
Thanks for visiting my blog! First off, I do about 45-60 min of cardio (running or TaeBo) 6 days each week to help lose and maintain my weight. Second, I do about 20 min/day of weightlifting. Nothing extreme, just working a variety of muscle groups in my arms and legs to improve their tone. I also do some leg lifts with ankle weights to tone my inner thighs and some crunches each day to help me abs out. Hope that helps!
Yes, you can definitely lose weight while still eating carbs. Actually, it is a LOT better for you than a low-carb or no-carb diet. Carbs are an important part of the food you need to be healthy. The key is to watch the AMOUNT of carbs you get in at each meal. I try to limit my "bread" carbs to around 100-120 cal per meal. Hope that helps.
Amy, I own a small shopping center in Sacramento, CA and I'm the process of converting a former tenant's health club that went out of business into a weight loss center. It will probably be a non-profit community based family fitness center, but I haven't gotten the city to sign on yet, so I may have to do it on my own. Anyway, I'd like to ask you if I can use your photos and story on my website. I'd pay a fee, of course. I think it will inspire people to get themselves AND THEIR KIDS INVOLVED in a health program.
Also, I own another small shopping center in Colorado Springs. There's a 2000 sq ft vacancy there. Have you thought about owning your own business? Maybe we could do something there.
